YORAM KARMI IS A GUEST AT THE BELGRADE DANCE INSTITUTE
As of today, Yoram Karmi, an Israeli choreographer and founder of the dance company Fresco, is visiting the Belgrade Dance Institute with the support of the Embassy of Israel in Serbia.
Yoram Karmi was the artistic director of the Shades of Dance Festival in 2012 and 2013. He won the Rosenblum Award for Outstanding Artist in the Field of Dance (2012). He won second prize at the Shades of Dance Festival for his opus Spectrum.
In addition to regularly creating works for his own company, he choreographed for the Israel Festival, the Israeli Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion (Pulcinella), the Jerusalem Ballet (Clara), the Israeli Ballet, KSU Atlanta and many others. In 2012, he created Point of Origin for the dance project of the Israeli Opera and Center Suzanne Dellal. The performances he choreographed at the Israeli Opera are: L’Italiana in Algiers (2021), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2018), Madame Butterfly (2018), Macbeth (2016), The Lady and the Salesman (2015), Schitz (2015). He is a guest teacher at master classes around the world and a judge at various professional dance competitions.
During his stay in Belgrade, in addition to intensive lectures at the Belgrade Dance Institute, Yoram Karmi will give lectures at the Lujo Davičo Ballet School, dancers from the independent scene and will create solo choreography which will be premiered at the second edition of the Solo Festival at the Barka Cultural Station in Novi Sad.
