THE LIAR PREMIERED AT SKC
In the Grand Hall of the Student Cultural Center in Belgrade, on the evening of September 21st, starting at 7:00 PM, a premiere performance in progress titled The Liar was presented, choreographed and performed by student Mojca Majcen, alumni Igor Kirov, and Prof. Aleksandar Ilić, based on the playwright by Jerome Kilty, Dear Liar.
This performance is an exploration by three choreographers and contemporary matured dancers, Mojca Majcen (Slovenia), Igor Kirov (Serbia), and Aleksandar Ilić (Serbia), who have spent their careers on stage as choreographers and performers but have never collaborated on a project together. They were joined by the writer Prof. Dr. Miomir Petrović, who is also a co-author of the script.
The exploration on the choreographic and dance level delves into more contemporary and complex realms of human relationships, the concept of sincerity, communication, and the possibility of understanding each other in today’s world. While seeking their path to sincerity, aware that they often mimic and deceive one another and others, the performers conquer the space around them, capturing the essence of their personalities while seeking honesty and authenticity. Each subsequent performance of this project will involve finding different stage solutions. Deceiving, the three of them love each other but also avoid each other…
The script is by Prof. Dr. Miomir Petrović, costumes for the performance were designed by Saša Krga, and music adaptation by Ivica Stjepanović.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and the Municipality of Celje (Slovenia).
Mojca Majcen and Igor Kirov are the founders of the Balkan Dance Project, to which Aleksandar Ilić has joined in order to bring together artists from the former Yugoslavia and the Balkan region.
In this performance, they are working together for the first and last time, at their own urging.
