On November 16, the Exhibition “Art from Guantanamo: A Journey Through Resilience and Resistance” was opened at the Parobrod Cultural Institution.
Step into a powerful and intimate exhibition that reveals the voices, stories and emotions of former Guantanamo detainees through their art. “Art from Guantanamo” brings together a collection of paintings, drawings and mixed media works created inside and outside the confines of the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay, depicting resilience, loss, hope and identity.
“Art from Guantanamo” is not just an exhibition; it is an urgent call to testimony, reflection and remembrance.
The Exhibition Curators are Mansoor Adayfi – author, writer, activist and former prisoner of Guantanamo, coordinator of the CAGE Guantanamo project, and Prof. Dr. Snežana Arnautović Stjepanović, visual artist, professor at the School of Engineering Management and the Belgrade Dance Institute.
Each work in this exhibition is a testament to the indestructible human spirit, revealing how art becomes a channel for healing, survival, resistance and expression under unimaginable cruelty. Join us in experiencing these unique perspectives that transcend confinement and isolation, offering an emotional dialogue about humanity, justice and remembrance.
The Exhibition is open until November 25, 2024.
The project is supported by the School of Engineering Management.
