DANCE, WORD AND PICTURE
The project Dance, Word and Picture is realized through a series of free workshops of artistic dance, creative writing and painting, which is intended primarily for Roma children in primary and secondary education. The workshops are being realized at the Belgrade Dance Institute (Bulevar vojvode Mišića 43). The partner in the realization of the project is the Cultural and Educational Center Šid. The project is supported by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue and the School of Engineering Management.
The Association of the Belgrade Dance Institute recognized the need for the realization of this project based on the work done so far in the field of art education, in which a very small number of Roma children are represented. During the seven years of work and organization of master classes, open doors, free workshops, we have not had Roma students so far.
Our goal is to enable the participation of Roma children who do not have the same rights and freedoms in their community, by promoting the possibility of free expression in the field of art and especially working to encourage and strengthen the self-confidence of participants.
The program is led by professors with many years of work experience in their field: Ognjen Vučinić (contemporary dance), Prof. dr Miomir Petrović (creative writing) and Prof. dr Snežana Arnautović Stjepanović (painting).
