A DANCE WITH A MYTH PERFORMED IN ŠIBENIK
As part of the 11th Šibenik Dance Festival, on July 29th at the Barone Fortress in Šibenik, the dance performance Igra s mitom (Dance with myth) was performed and choreographed by Prof. Aleksandar Ilić.
“There is a lot of symbolism in this play, which is not difficult to read. Although I do not deal with political theater or gender matters, this is a woman’s story. Four strong female dancers actually say that the world does not belong only to men, but that they (women) rule it,” said Prof. Aleksandar Ilić.
His choreographic vision was performed by Katarina Ilijašević, Natalija Trifunović, Jovana Grujić and Katarina Bućić.
To the audience of ŠDF, Prof. Ilić delighted not only with his choreography, but also with additional stage elements.
“Costume and light are additional performers on stage. My plays are quite slow and dark. I love the shadow play. And here, in a sparse light park, we managed to create the desired mystique. My choreographic signature is recognizable by challenging the body reflexes of the players on stage. I want their speech and the sound of their bodies to echo from the stage,” Ilić explained.
The costumes are designed by Katarina Radošević Galić and Snežana Arnautović Stjepanović, and the music is adapted by Georg Draušnik. The performance was prepared by Ognjen Vučinić.
