TRIPTYCHONE FOR EURIDICA
On November 13th, at 9 p.m., the contemporary water dance show Triptychone for Eurydice was premiered at the small pool in Pančevo, choreographed by Tijana Malek, second-year Master’s student of the Belgrade Dance Institute and alumni Katarina Stojković. Inspired by Branko Miljković’s song of the same name, and with the support of the City of Pančevo, DDT-creative center for movement based this season’s production on an innovative idea, to adapt contemporary dance to performance in water, while at the same time the play has all directorial and choreographic elements represented. The performance could not have been realized without the support of PUK Mladost from Pančevo and the Belgrade Dance Institute, because the innovative approach to contemporary dance required multi-institutional support during the organization of the premiere.
The inspiration for the contemporary dance performance Triptychone for Eurydice is Orphean love, which was described by Branko Miljković in the song Annabelle Lee by Edgar Allan Poe and Vladislav Petković Dis in the song Maybe Sleeping. The poem Triptychone for Eurydice exudes the sublimity that death brings, the focus of the research work was the loss of Eurydice and the sublime love that overcomes that loss and death.
The choreography for the performance is created by Katarina Stojković and Tijana Malek. DDT-creative center for movement premiered the piece Triptychone for Eurydice at the JKP Mladost swimming pool in Pančevo, but the dance performance in the water is also possible to perform on the seashore, then on the shore of the lake (Ada Ciganlija, Srebrno jezero, etc.) as and at swimming pools in other cities, in the country and abroad, which is good for the sustainability of the project and post-production, after the premiere performance.
In the role of Orpheus/ Poet – Luka Stojković, Eurydice – Mila Stijak, Hades – Alisa Oravec, Marija Vučenović, Dragana Stanisavljević, Katarina Bućić and Natalija Trifunović. Original music is signed by Danilo Stojković. This season, DDT-creative center for movement is preparing another premiere of the contemporary dance performance The Artist is Absent!, on December 5th in the Cultural Center of Pančevo, which is also supported by the City of Pančevo and the Ministry of Culture and Information, while next year we mark and celebrate the jubilee 20 years of existence and creation.
